Glen Cannon, a native Detroiter, has an in-depth understanding of the music business that stems
from a wealth of experience in several areas of the industry. He began his career in the early 90’s
as independent record and concert promoter working with artist such as BODY and Bell Biv
DeVoe/BBD on MCA Records. Cannon later started his own independent record label Streetnoise
Records, distributed by Bellmark, in which his independent efforts discovered and ushered several
promising acts to the music industry on a major level “Da’ Honeys” [WillieMax, on Motown/Pookie Records with
Rafiel Sadiq and Award Winning Christian/R&B Artist Detrick Haddon who was a part Streetnoise
gospel quartet “Perfect Peace”, who was later signed to Arista Records].
Bellmark Records recruited Cannon as their East Coast Representative. A key player whose
participation was essential in in breaking the rap singles “Whoomp There It Is” and “Daisy
Dukes” by Tag Team. Under the Bellmark umbrella Cannon was a vital player in the success of The
Artist (formerly known as Prince) with the hit single “ The Most Beautiful Girl in the World”
working as Production Manager and Assistant Tour Manger on the “ Jam of The Year Tour” starring
Prince. Jam of the year was the most successful grossing tour of Prince’s career.
In addition to these achievements, Cannon provides consulting advice to many independent
label managers, producers, and artist breaking into the entertainment industry. Cannon has a
reputation for integrity and being both a motivator and mentor. It is because of these attributes
that he has an in-depth understanding of the music industry and how it works. In turn, this
reputation has solidified his profile as a successful and respected music industry executive.
Cannon is married, a father of five and is currently a part of the strategic planning team for Al Bell
of Stax Records.

A 30+ year veteran of the entertainment business, his credits and experience extends from producing and promoting major event productions that include Prince, Janet Jackson and the UniverSoul Circus to personally consulting high end major film stars such as action hero Steven Seagal.
Donwell is also no slouch when it comes to the creative side. Being noted as having the “Midas Touch”, Donwell has been involved in a long string of successful urban theatrical productions including “A Good Man Is Hard To Find” and “Beauty Shop” which is still today some of the nation’s highest grossing urban theatrical productions, along with a host of others. A partner with Streetnoise Records, which brought hits from musical acts like the Honeys and facility management, Donwell took the lead at Chene Park Amphitheatre making it into a record setting season in 1996 and also consulted Freedom Hill Amphitheatre, both located in the area of metropolitan Detroit. Creative experiences have lead Donwell to spear heading Prince’s “Jam of the Year” World Tour which was noted in both “Vibe” (April 1998) and “Rolling Stone” magazines as the 7th and 8th highest grossing tours in the world and the mastermind behind one of Prince’s most financially successful independent albums “New Power Soul”.
Donwell’s current tasks include the development of positive intellectual properties that impact youth and families and show an immediate return to support schools, groups and organizations, along with the use of technology incorporated with event opportunity. This concept has taken Donwell into the world of technology implementation and consulting opportunities with some of the foremost financial brokerage firms, corporations and industry professionals.
Donwell has over 3000 events and productions to his credit including PRINCE, Howie Mandel, Cats and pre-season professional basketball games with NBA teams in non-traditional markets.
Donwell was appointed to the City of Detroit’s Board of Review as a part of departmental overhauling in the fall of 2007. Donwell, based on his aggressive and effective handling of some major issues faced by the Board was elected Chairman. Over the next several months Donwell worked with other departments such as the Auditor General, Research and Analysis and Fiscal Analysis to restructure the operating and decision making process for the Board of Review. This included being one of the authors of new ordinances and regulations along with the policies and procedures that governs the Board of Review. Also assisted in the development of new legislation that is currently in front of the State of Michigan Senate.
Today Donwell’s current involvement, through his vast relationships in entertainment, has allowed him to develop what is going to be the “new revolution and paradigm” in the industry which includes the development of new entertainment franchises that will launch in late 2012 and the acquisition of select music catalogs along with organizing the distribution of major theatre releases for film and broadcast television, brand partnerships with major corporations, and that’s just the beginning.
